I searched around for an alternative software with this particular feature and only found a paid option (Angus Monitor). (My BIOS only supports CPU temperature as a temperature source for the PWM fans). I used it to bind my case fans speed to the hottest component of my PC, my GPU. The main feature I used was the custom fan curves with custom temperature sources. If in desktop mode I replace the 3 files that handle the fan control with the old ones from 20220502 (same as 20220526) and then restart the systemd service rvice it immediately takes effect and the fan drops to 0 RPM which drops my total system power to ~3.88W from ~4.05W.I built a new custom UI on top of OpenHardwareMonitor with additional features, mainly linear fan curves with custom temperature sources.Īs you guys may know, SpeedFan is sadly not updated anymore, so newer boards are not detected properly. I noticed due to a game that never needed fans all of the sudden started them up. This is just a shot in the dark and you've probably already checked but I have had the 'updated fan controls' toggle in the settings revert after updates.

Is the fan not turning off in this version intentional? This is unlike the previous version (20220526), where some games could even be played passively (if unplugged of course, my understanding is that when charging, the fan has a min speed of 2000 RPM to keep the charging IC cooled). Zosuzne の投稿を引用:It seems that the updated fan control script included in this SteamOS beta (20220630) no longer allows the fan to go below 2000 RPM, even when unplugged, at a soc temp of <55☌ (45☌) and a total system power of ~4W. Please test if you're so inclined, and provide feedback here.
